I carry the alignment tool in my golf bag; it's easy to put it in and take it out of the bag when I get to the practice range. This device can be used for practice of both the short and full-swing game.

Some "critics" ask me why I use this aid rather than just laying down my own clubs, and I reply that it helps me not only with my alignment but also with ball placement in my setup (I place the ball directly parallel with the black "hub" of the device and about 8 inches away from it). Also, I can use the device during sand trap practice without putting my clubs in the sand.

That would solve the problem of having to reposition the bag after each swing and allow for a better indicator of your club face at impact. This is a lighter and MORE REALISTIC weight than the heavier Medicus Driver.

An adjustable tool comes with the hinged driver to increase the sensitivity to which it can break down or decrease the sensitivity to stay straight.

I ordered directly from the company website which allowed me to select for club length, club grip (Training Grip versus Standard), and type (Men's, Women's or Junior).

The loft is a 10 degree and I opted for a 44" shaft with a training grip.

The value of the club is the immediate feedback regarding errors in the swing of a golfer. Just like the original clubs, Medicus 2000 iron, it hinges if the tempo is too fast, whether you take the club back closed or open, whether you cast the club, shift weight incorrectly or follow through incorrectly.

Who is this for? 1. Someone who doesn't play on a regular basis but has been trained with basic fundamentals. 2. Someone who has problems with consistency with the driver. 3. Someone inconsistent with the woods, in general. This is not a cure all for all golfers and only experience will reveal if it works for you. For higher and mid handicap players, it will help immensely. For advanced golfers, it probably has little benefit.

Will it cure your slice? There are many reasons for a slice so it is difficult to say. Will it help ensure consistent contact? Yes, good or bad, you WILL hit the ball. You will likely "Top it", "hit it fat", or "hit it thin" less often than you do.

This won't teach a swing but it WILL refine it.

This is not for a novice, as it will break down and make the user frustrated. If you think you have a perfect swing, try the club with the highest sensitivity to flaws. The flaws will be uncovered - this is certain. The advantage is that it can be hit like a regular club by allowing you to hit balls with it, unlike weighted drivers/irons.

Hitting with this club is quite challenging, until you have grooved your swing. However, with proper practice, I am, now able to hit it as far as my regular driver. I have had the driver for 6 months, and it has held up in terms of durability.

This training club is probably the fastest way to perfect your swing plane and tempo, short of a PGA professional standing next to you on every facet of the swing.

If you're having trouble with the driver, this is a training aid that can be extremely useful in uncovering the flaws in your swing. If you're a seasoned player and have no problems with your swing plane or tempo, this will not be helpful.

Through many months of use with hinged clubs I have gained confidence and consistency with both types (driver and irons) of clubs. The Refiner Driver is exactly in line with the more expensive alternatives.

I highly recommend this club, if you're struggling with the big stick.

UPDATE:
Not only does the improvement work with the driver (which I have been hitting straighter than ever), but it has helped me with my fairway woods and hybrids. Since you are using a sweeping motion, the longer shaft helps ingrain the type of mechanics you need.

After 6 months of use, I have learned to straighten out my ball flight to a fade or draw. With constant use, I have added about 15 yards to my drive. ...

Golf Digest Practice Net

So far this is the third net I've gone through and the best one so far. My first purchase was the Practice Golf Net & Frame by CSI Cannon Sports. On uneven ground this thing would not even stand up. Furthermore, the metal bars rusted, it would blow over from the slightest breeze despite using the ground stakes, and the bars bent using minimal force. My 2nd net was the Izzo Golf Big Daddy Insta-Net. Mine came with a missing part so my review maybe slightly biased, but even after rigging it as if it had the part I could not get it to stand. The fiberglass support bars are over-contorted IMO.

I picked this one up for $30.00, took me 20 mins to setup. The instructions are bad as with the last 2 nets I bought and assume that all instructions are for the most part cr@ppy. This one was too, but not that bad. My daughter who started golf lessons loves it and for chipping and driving it works for me so far.

Plus I scored a free subscription to Golf Digest. Free is good, but more clutter in the house and more for me to recycle.

Inside Approach Flextee Launch Pad Practice Aid

This is a simple training aid that has an arched plastic base with 2 fold out rubber flaps. Alignment lines allow a user to set up parallel to the target line. A small port allows you to put in your own tees. The device folds easily and can fit into a large pocket in a standard golf bag.

Hitting the driver with your own tees is good as any other mat. However, hitting hybrids or irons has a big drawback: The noise when you hit the ball and then the plastic base. It is distracting. It does simulate hitting turf with the flexibility of the arched plastic base. The base is relatively stable but can move with contact.

This does take some abuse from contact and is durable except for the rubber flaps.

There is a better alternative on the market:

VERDICT:

Better products exist out there. Look elsewhere.

I didn't really have high expectations for this product and it lived up to my low expectation. When I added the C batteries I had an extremely hard time getting them in and wound up using a tool to cram them in. It's a pretty large at 12 by 6 inches and takes about 10 seconds to reset after returning a ball. Also you have to hit the ball pretty hard for it to get up to the return, which actually negatively affected my putting game.
I wound up returning the item.

I don't give it a 5 because it's not perfectly weighted and sometimes the balls get stuck inside and I have to kick it a little to get them moving again. Still every time after that you can get through the next 6-8 balls without having to do it. - Quick usage tips -
1. Use it in front of a mirror
2. Fill it with birdseed instead the recommended pillows or a bed comforter.

Like you, I've used what seems like every golf training tool and become just as frustrated and self doubting.

What I like about this tool and all training bags is one of the hardest parts of the golf swing is the motion and posture at ball impact, the:
1. Forward motion of the hips
2. Keeping your posture straight
3. Feet positioned
4. Club face square at impact
5. Swinging with those arms

This bag helps you focus on all of these points and others, when used in front of a mirror you can practice your stroke and study your posture at impact. The instructions recommend using a bed comforter or pillows to stuff inside the bag (opens with a zipper), I found this useless because the bag just moved or deformed at impact.

Using an impact bag beats trying to use a golf cart tire !

This 9' putting green should help my short game immensley. The return mechanism works perfectly. I read a few reviews that complain about the folds and seams in the carpet. Even the instructions suggest using a bunch of phone books to flatten-out the surface. Don't listen to them!! - A regular garment IRON at medium heat with some steam works perfectly! After 5 minutes there wasn't a ripple to be found and now each putt rolls true and strait.

I've had this thing for over four years. I break it out once a season to hone up. Overall, it works well. The carpet is thick and more than smooth enough for the purpose, considering it's stored and shipped all folded up. Let's just say it "relaxes" into a usable putting surface. A foot b4 the cup there's a ramp to help develop an accelerating stroke. Sometimes I like this feature, other times, eh....it's necessitated by the return system. It does allow a successful putt to plop satisfyingly into the hole. Said return system does work, but fitfully. One return is the length of the mat, the next only 3 feet. I find this to be acceptable, becuz on the course you'll rarely have two putts the same length. One good thing, it's AC powered. Never go battery power with one of these puppies. All in all, I like it, it's durable, and it actually translates onto the course. More short putts fall if you practice more short putts, who'da thunk it. One other thing. I leave this set up in the living room for a couple of weeks at a time. No one seems to mind. I come home and the teenagers are trying to best each other on it. I even sidle behind the little lady to help her with her stroke....;-)

This product is very cheaply made, and did not work very well for me. My main problem with this product is that it doesn't address the core of the problem why your wrist doesn't stay flat at the top.

A flat left wrist at the top all begins with having a good grip. If you aren't gripping the club correctly, you are going to have to force yourself into a very awkward feeling position in order to keep your left wrist flat at the top. This will probably only mess you up more in the long term.

After reading concerns some have written about the added weight causing stress on the hosel and clubhead, I decided to use this with some of my older clubs (not my weekend clubs). I've used the product on irons and a driver and it works just as advertised. I mostly use it for swing practice in the back yard, but it works well on the range too. After 15 minutes of swing practice with the Power Sleeve, when I take the sleeve off, the club is feather-light and it just slices through the air. (It does the same thing that the weighted "bat donuts" do for baseball players). I keep a club with the Power Sleeve attached it in the corner of my home office and while surfing the Internet or watching TV, I will use it to do one-handed wrist exercises (raising and lowering the club head, which strengthens the muscles used in the wrist cock motion). I have found that these efforts make my forearms and wrists less tired when I actually play a round. I have used it on steel shafts and the graphite shaft of my driver and when secured tightly at the bottom of the shaft, to doesn't move around or scratch the shaft. I would expect that it puts strain on the hosel, so again, I would use it on practice clubs only. I like this product and would recommend it to others!!!

I use the Power Sleeve in conjunction with the SwinGyde (http://www.amazon.com/Swingyde-Golf-Swing-Training-Aid/dp/B000OZI256) which I would rate as a 10 Stars for teaching the correct swing plane.

That is to make the SHAFT of your golf club heavy and thus smooth out your swing plane so that straighter shots are now possible.As far as this product giving you more distance-it is highly doubtful,as it is much lighter than the momentus and the sklz power sleeve really doesnt work the muscles as much as a 40 oz momentus.The one thing going for it ,is that its portable and can fit in your bag as a great warm-up device, when your on the first tee and have no time to hit range balls..The sklz website shows this power sleeve thing attached to a driver and even hitting balls with it on the range. Well, when I took it to the range and put on a driver the results were not good:,In fact a word of caution: When this device is attached to a any club longer than three iron to hit balls, you'll have to be very careful. Because it slides down the shaft and puts EXTREME pressure on the shaft of your club.And then the extra weight of the power sleeve colliding with the range ball is NOT good for your shaft on your clubs!.. I have even heard of it snapping off long iron heads when hitting balls on the range. And as far as attaching it to your graphite shafts to hit balls?..forget about it! You'll break/damage your club and have no one to blame but yourself.Thank god I only hit three balls with the power sleeve on my graphite driver before stopping.I could feel the club flexing and could hear a "slight cracking noise".
CONCLUSION: Its a poor/portable substitute for the momentus, but DOES work and will do the same job if your in a financial pinch.AS The power sleeve costs about half as much.And as long as you dont hit range balls with the power sleeve with anything longer than a 8 iron- you wont damage your clubs.The other negative is it really doesnt stay put on the shaft. It keeps SLIDING DOWN the shaft towards the club hosel and after awhile this gets ANNOYING.
If you have a momentus keep the momentus as Momentus gets a grade of B+....This imitation momentus (sklz power sleeve) gets a grade of C+

I purchase this as a birthday present for myself so that I could really practice up in my attic which has lots of space and great florescent lighting. I asked the simulator manufacturer if this devise would be good to practice the short game and received a detailed reply as to why it would help. Taking all the practice to the course I have dropped my handicap from 16 to 12 and am striking the ball much better. The short game is seeing the biggest improvement. One other thing, I would recommend mid-handicapper getting is the book and CD called Tour Tempo by John Novosel. Using the sounds to start the backswing, wristcock, and impact I was able to take my swing speed from 75 to 95 mph! Not only did I gain much more distance but my contact is much better because of the much improved tempo. Tempo is also measured on the Dancin' Dogg practice mode monitor and I feel is a big help to improving your swing. 25 -30 more yds with the driver and I am hitting my 5 iron 165 instead of 150. I am 68 years old and took up golf after I retired 7 years ago and really love the game and have improved very year. This year will be my biggerest improvement year thanks to Dancin' Dogg and Tour Tempo.

Momentus Power Hitter Driver Swing Trainer

My wife bought me this earlier this year as an early birthday gift. I have been using it for about two months now and really like it.

I usually use it at the driving range and hit 25 balls with the Power Hitter and then 25 with my driver continuing to switch back and forth. I play at least 9 holes a week and hit the driving range at lease twice. When not at the driving range, I use the Power Hitter exclusively during the week and hit into a net.

What the Power Hitter has done is given me more swing strength and swing speed. It has changed my overall swing so I now hit at about 85% of speed but hit farther than I did before using the Power Hitter. I am not flailing away with all of my might now. This has helped me control my swing better and allowed me to work on correcting an evil slice I had. I am NOT saying the Power Hitter corrects a slice. But by controlling my swing, I was able to find what was causing my slice (poor grip) and now I hit very straight and average about 260 yards in my drives. Before using the Power Hitter, I averaged about 235 yards (and sliced badly) so it increased my average drive by about 25 yards.

I am a 18 handicap at the start of the year but have been under a 15 lately and I would recommend the Power Hitter to anyone. I am not a scratch golfer but I am working on it and I can out drive some scratch golfers I play with. Every golfer can use some additional yardage on their drives.

This is an excellent club for grooving your swing. After just a few practice sessions, I was completely confident with the driver. The head is 460 cc's and is stainless steel. The hinge can be adjusted with an allen wrench for sensitivity. The handle is a rubber wrap which a bit too firm for me but is standard in size. You can actually hit with this club but your mechanics have to be 'perfect'.

You learn the importance of tempo, swing plane and proper mechanics. The accompanying video is helpful in the appropriate use of the driver. The swing tips video is also worthwhile.

Have only had this product for about three weeks and it performs as advertised. Have used it at the driving range in the vibrate mode so as to not bother other patrons. I truly believe my swing tempo has improved with the help of this aide but it's still too early to tell if tempo improvement is real enough to be effective on the golf course during an 18-hole round. If it helps me to win a few more on-course friendly wagers, then the product will have paid for itself within a reasonable period of time. Maybe I'll post results again in a few months and hopefully give it a higher star rating. Time will tell. I've hit about 300 balls today because I'm golfing on business next week, and every one was set perfectly on the tee. My kids think it's so cool they've even started learning the game!

This thing paid for itself the first day I got it, because I hit more balls that day than I would hit in 10 trips to the range.

The kit contains everything you need, but if you're going to use it in an unfinished basement like I do, consider picking up a small piece of carpet to put under the net. It keeps you from having balls rolling all around the basement.

I also caution the use of this club with graphite shafts. There is a noticeable flex as the club is being swung at full speed. It is like swinging a more flexible shafted club (i.e. Senior flex for a regular flex shaft).

VERDICT
Overall, this is a solid training aid but it has some limitations.

This is better for an intermediate/advanced golfer with a higher than average fitness level without back or shoulder issues.

Shadow Pro Lessons by Rick Smith

I anticipated this software would be the answer to my dreams. Finally I would have one of the best golf instructors in my house looking at every swing and recommending the appropriate changes. Well, hold your horses if you share this dream. This software version is not there yet.

The software was very easy to install and setup. Unfortunately, that is where it ends. I was able to have my first swing analyzed perfectly. But then, the software wouldn't recognize my subsequent swings. I kept swinging and swinging and nothing happened. I don't think it even realized that I was swinging because the shadow itself didn't move. I had to reboot several times and then eventually it started recognizing my swings again. But that did not last more than 10 - 15 minutes before I had to start all over. Finally, I got so frustrated that I had to turn it off for good.

This software needs major revision. When it recognizes my swings, I received a great deal of helpful insight. But the frustration factor was great than the satisfaction facotr. It is a great idea but the swing recognition part is just not there yet. Save your money!

What a disappointment- my grandson opened Christmas Morning - when plugged in it started smoking. Obviously we were afraid to try to use further = ended up in the garbage. Package too big to take to UPS to return.

Tiger Woods - How I Play Golf - Book

Tiger covers every type of shot and cimcumstance that everyone encounters on the course. He breaks down all stages of his swings, explaining why particular adjusts are made. Tiger covers the basics (grip, stance, swings, ball placement, etc) as well as more complex setups for the more experienced player. A good amount of humor, insight into his professional life behind the scenes and his approach to the game make the book a great read in between the mechanics. I love the book and continue to use it as a reference to improve all parts of my game.

Works great. I was hoping that foam underneath would extend more. I recommend getting some double-sided carpet tape to hold it in place, and combining it with the IZZO rough chipping mat and some foam wedges from foamonline.com. I ordered the following foam pieces and break and cup depth is better:

Medicus Dual-Hinge Oversized Driver

This is an excellent club for grooving your swing. After just a few practice sessions, I was completely confident with the driver. The head is 460 cc's and is stainless steel. The hinge can be adjusted with an allen wrench (included) for sensitivity. The handle is a rubber wrap which a bit too firm for me but is standard in size. You can actually hit with this club but your mechanics have to be 'perfect'.

You learn the importance of tempo, swing plane and proper mechanics. The accompanying video is helpful in the appropriate use of the driver. The swing tips video is also worthwhile.

PROS
Teaches the proper swing plane for those with a smooth tempo
Adjustable resistance to hinge at a lower threshold

CONS
Heavier weight than the conventional driver which may change your perception of feel
High price

There are lower priced alternatives; however, at a fraction of the cost (Refiner Driver - has a single hinge but the action is exactly the same.

I was having significant trouble with my swing and decided I needed to practice at home. I bought this product, some wiffle balls, a couple good instruction books and swingyde a fairly cheap training product. Things are getting much better.

Specifically about the mat: it is durable and serves its purpose. It does move around a bit after contact, and it does sit up about an inch off the ground (you could overcome these in the right yard). But I gave it 5 stars anyway because I can practice my swing in the comfort and privacy of my back yard and then confirm progress by hitting a few balls at the range, and the price is what I was looking for.....great value.

Up-Tempo Practice DVD by Bob Hurley, Sr.

I got this DVD because I read a review that rated it very highly. I was a little disappointed, and definitely don't think it's worth the $40+.
Coach Hurley has many good ideas he tells you, and many good drills he shows you. But I had a hard time visualizing how my own team would benefit from them. I also couldn't see how Coach Hurley's teams benefited from them, because he never showed or explained how the drills fit with his system.
In our practices now I am using 1-2 of the many drills he showed, and I like them fine, but they're only a little better than drills we already use, and I wish I hadn't dropped $40+ to benefit from 1-2 drills.
