Wilson Golf Gallery Gopher

I ordered this for my 9 year old son for Christmas because he loves to play golf. The product itself is great, my only complaint is that the cover for the gopher keeps coming off. It's not extremely difficult to put back on, but it does get tedious when you have to fix it every time it's used (my son uses it frequently). Other than that I have no complaints.

SKLZ Rick Smith Power Sleeve - Portable Club Weighting System

After reading concerns some have written about the added weight causing stress on the hosel and clubhead, I decided to use this with some of my older clubs (not my weekend clubs). I've used the product on irons and a driver and it works just as advertised. I mostly use it for swing practice in the back yard, but it works well on the range too. After 15 minutes of swing practice with the Power Sleeve, when I take the sleeve off, the club is feather-light and it just slices through the air. (It does the same thing that the weighted "bat donuts" do for baseball players). I keep a club with the Power Sleeve attached it in the corner of my home office and while surfing the Internet or watching TV, I will use it to do one-handed wrist exercises (raising and lowering the club head, which strengthens the muscles used in the wrist cock motion). I have found that these efforts make my forearms and wrists less tired when I actually play a round. I have used it on steel shafts and the graphite shaft of my driver and when secured tightly at the bottom of the shaft, to doesn't move around or scratch the shaft. I would expect that it puts strain on the hosel, so again, I would use it on practice clubs only. I like this product and would recommend it to others!!!

I use the Power Sleeve in conjunction with the SwinGyde (http://www.amazon.com/Swingyde-Golf-Swing-Training-Aid/dp/B000OZI256) which I would rate as a 10 Stars for teaching the correct swing plane.

We ordered this and when it came, the overlay with the numbered holes was missing, but Amazon was great, took it back and paid all shipping costs, sent us a new one which was complete. The chipping basket is great fun indoors or outside, and can be set up at different angles depending on how far away you want to chip from. We've used it at several parties indoors, hitting whiffle golf balls off a carpet and scoring points depending on which numbered hole it goes in. It's a fun game, and also a good practice tool for your golf game. Would definitely recommend it.

SKLZ Power Sleeve

The sklz POWER SLEEVE was manufactured having the SAME CONCEPT as the MOMENTUS. That is to make the SHAFT of your golf club heavy and thus smooth out your swing plane so that straighter shots are now possible.As far as this product giving you more distance-it is highly doubtful,as it is much lighter than the momentus and the sklz power sleeve really doesnt work the muscles as much as a 40 oz momentus.The one thing going for it ,is that its portable and can fit in your bag as a great warm-up device, when your on the first tee and have no time to hit range balls..The sklz website shows this power sleeve thing attached to a driver and even hitting balls with it on the range. Well, when I took it to the range and put on a driver the results were not good:,In fact a word of caution: When this device is attached to a any club longer than three iron to hit balls, you'll have to be very careful. Because it slides down the shaft and puts EXTREME pressure on the shaft of your club.And then the extra weight of the power sleeve colliding with the range ball is NOT good for your shaft on your clubs!.. I have even heard of it snapping off long iron heads when hitting balls on the range. And as far as attaching it to your graphite shafts to hit balls?..forget about it! You'll break/damage your club and have no one to blame but yourself.Thank god I only hit three balls with the power sleeve on my graphite driver before stopping.I could feel the club flexing and could hear a "slight cracking noise".
CONCLUSION: Its a poor/portable substitute for the momentus, but DOES work and will do the same job if your in a financial pinch.AS The power sleeve costs about half as much.And as long as you dont hit range balls with the power sleeve with anything longer than a 8 iron- you wont damage your clubs.The other negative is it really doesnt stay put on the shaft. It keeps SLIDING DOWN the shaft towards the club hosel and after awhile this gets ANNOYING.
If you have a momentus keep the momentus as Momentus gets a grade of B+....This imitation momentus (sklz power sleeve) gets a grade of C+

Dancin' Dogg Golf Shot Making Simulator

Dancin' Dogg Golf Shot Making Simulator I would greatly recommend this simulator for its quality and price. This past Jan. I purchase this as a birthday present for myself so that I could really practice up in my attic which has lots of space and great florescent lighting. I asked the simulator manufacturer if this devise would be good to practice the short game and received a detailed reply as to why it would help. Taking all the practice to the course I have dropped my handicap from 16 to 12 and am striking the ball much better. The short game is seeing the biggest improvement. One other thing, I would recommend mid-handicapper getting is the book and CD called Tour Tempo by John Novosel. Using the sounds to start the backswing, wristcock, and impact I was able to take my swing speed from 75 to 95 mph! Not only did I gain much more distance but my contact is much better because of the much improved tempo. Tempo is also measured on the Dancin' Dogg practice mode monitor and I feel is a big help to improving your swing. 25 -30 more yds with the driver and I am hitting my 5 iron 165 instead of 150. I am 68 years old and took up golf after I retired 7 years ago and really love the game and have improved very year. This year will be my biggerest improvement year thanks to Dancin' Dogg and Tour Tempo.

Momentus Power Hitter Driver Swing Trainer

My wife bought me this earlier this year as an early birthday gift. I have been using it for about two months now and really like it.

I usually use it at the driving range and hit 25 balls with the Power Hitter and then 25 with my driver continuing to switch back and forth. I play at least 9 holes a week and hit the driving range at lease twice. When not at the driving range, I use the Power Hitter exclusively during the week and hit into a net.

What the Power Hitter has done is given me more swing strength and swing speed. It has changed my overall swing so I now hit at about 85% of speed but hit farther than I did before using the Power Hitter. I am not flailing away with all of my might now. This has helped me control my swing better and allowed me to work on correcting an evil slice I had. I am NOT saying the Power Hitter corrects a slice. But by controlling my swing, I was able to find what was causing my slice (poor grip) and now I hit very straight and average about 260 yards in my drives. Before using the Power Hitter, I averaged about 235 yards (and sliced badly) so it increased my average drive by about 25 yards.

I am a 18 handicap at the start of the year but have been under a 15 lately and I would recommend the Power Hitter to anyone. I am not a scratch golfer but I am working on it and I can out drive some scratch golfers I play with. Every golfer can use some additional yardage on their drives.

SKLZ Hinged Refiner Driver

I actually bought this as a gift for someone, but had to try it out myself first. I'm no golfer, but I can definitely tell by using this product that "finesse" is the name of the game. I was shocked at how easily the shaft "breaks", but I can also tell how this could definitely teach people how to swing correctly. I believe everyone ought to start out with one of these instead of learning incorrectly first then untraining yourself from a bad habit. If I ever decide to start playing, I will most assuredly buy one of these for myself.

Medicus Dual Hinged Oversized Driver 460cc

This is an excellent club for grooving your swing. After just a few practice sessions, I was completely confident with the driver. The head is 460 cc's and is stainless steel. The hinge can be adjusted with an allen wrench for sensitivity. The handle is a rubber wrap which a bit too firm for me but is standard in size. You can actually hit with this club but your mechanics have to be 'perfect'.

You learn the importance of tempo, swing plane and proper mechanics. The accompanying video is helpful in the appropriate use of the driver. The swing tips video is also worthwhile.

Swing Tempo Golf Swing Rhythm Metronome

Have only had this product for about three weeks and it performs as advertised. Have used it at the driving range in the vibrate mode so as to not bother other patrons. I truly believe my swing tempo has improved with the help of this aide but it's still too early to tell if tempo improvement is real enough to be effective on the golf course during an 18-hole round. If it helps me to win a few more on-course friendly wagers, then the product will have paid for itself within a reasonable period of time. Maybe I'll post results again in a few months and hopefully give it a higher star rating. Time will tell. DVD and written instructions that came with the product made it very easy to use, pretty much right out of the box.

Teed Up Portable Driving Range

I bought this product recently, and it works perfectly every time. I have back problems, so when I go to a range, I can barely make it through a small bucket before I have to quit. Now I have a "range" in my basement that is free, always available, and causes no back pain.

I've hit about 300 balls today because I'm golfing on business next week, and every one was set perfectly on the tee. My kids think it's so cool they've even started learning the game!

This thing paid for itself the first day I got it, because I hit more balls that day than I would hit in 10 trips to the range.

The kit contains everything you need, but if you're going to use it in an unfinished basement like I do, consider picking up a small piece of carpet to put under the net. It keeps you from having balls rolling all around the basement.

This is well worth its cost. I absolutely love it.

I bought this product because I am new to golf and I was looking to improve so I wouldn't be horribly embarrassed when I played with my father in law, I liked this product because I could practice at home so when I went to the range I mostly looked like I knew what I was doing. It was easy to use and the concept was easy to grasp. I didn't play much prior to using this but I felt like it definitely helped me work on my golf game for the better, especially better than trying to practice on my own. Good for helping the back swing, careful during the down swing, you can hurt yourself !

SUMMARY: Great for backswing training because of the weight, but that same weight can injure your wrist during the down and forward swing, use caution.

I own the Momentus iron and driver trainers, and all of them are effective for training the backswing because the extraordinary weight lets your feel the position of the clubhead and your elbow position on the backswing.

When you bring the clubhead down through the entire down and forward swing is when you risk injury, the weight can feel like it is pulling your hand off at the wrist it may not happen immediately but insidiously slowly and you don't realize it until the car ride home.

The Momentus is best used with an impact bag filled with bird seed or sand to help you sculpt your back swing, but it isn't necessary.

Here is a tip that will help you shape your down and forward swing and it won't cost a thing:

1. Use a towel or driver head cover and pinch it inside your armpit before you set up to the ball. If your're using a headcover, use the sock part or the bottom part that fits lowest around the shaft.
2. Execute your swing and make sure the head cover or towel never falls to the ground.

This helps you condition your swing to leverage the swinging forearms and helps to quiet over active shoulders. The next part of this tip, snap your arms through the downswing, feel your arms surge through the swing near the point of ball impact and this helps you square your club head and gives you extra distance.

THE SLEEVE

VERSATILITY
With regards to warming up, this tool really shines. The heavy weight improves the ability to stretch. Practice swings really work with any club in the bag. Given the weight, you improve your tempo and your ability to release (curing the over the top flaw of many golfers). Even a weighted putter helps the golfer swing on plane.

PRACTICALITY
Swinging this training aid on a club to hit a ball is possible with wedges, short irons and the putter.

However, I would not recommend this club to a beginner or novice to hit longer clubs such as fairway woods, hybrids, long irons and the driver - with regard to HITTING THE BALL.

Without proper fundamentals, this can lead to injury since it is even heavier than the heaviest Momentus Power Hitter. The Power Hitter is a weight balanced heavy club. This training aid makes an unbalanced golf club - increasing the predisposition to back and shoulder injury; especially with overuse.

I also caution the use of this club with graphite shafts. There is a noticeable flex as the club is being swung at full speed. It is like swinging a more flexible shafted club (i.e. Senior flex for a regular flex shaft).

VERDICT
Overall, this is a solid training aid but it has some limitations.

This is better for an intermediate/advanced golfer with a higher than average fitness level without back or shoulder issues.

Please note that there is a cheaper alternative by SKLZ called the SKLZ Rick Smith Power Sleeve, costing only $30 retail.

I am using this net for playing Cricket and it has worked out pretty good. Cricket is a game much similar to baseball, and this net helps us play with the regular leather ball with just 5 or 6 players or sometimes even less. After only a few days of using it, it radically improved my putting game.
It helps you keep your eyes directly on the ball without allowing them to stray off to the back stroke of your putt, which normally can take your putt off aim. Shadow Pro Lessons by Rick Smith

I anticipated this software would be the answer to my dreams. Finally I would have one of the best golf instructors in my house looking at every swing and recommending the appropriate changes. Well, hold your horses if you share this dream. This software version is not there yet.

The software was very easy to install and setup. Unfortunately, that is where it ends. I was able to have my first swing analyzed perfectly. But then, the software wouldn't recognize my subsequent swings. I kept swinging and swinging and nothing happened. I don't think it even realized that I was swinging because the shadow itself didn't move. I had to reboot several times and then eventually it started recognizing my swings again. But that did not last more than 10 - 15 minutes before I had to start all over. Finally, I got so frustrated that I had to turn it off for good.

This software needs major revision. When it recognizes my swings, I received a great deal of helpful insight. But the frustration factor was great than the satisfaction facotr. It is a great idea but the swing recognition part is just not there yet. Save your money!

Tiger covers every type of shot and cimcumstance that everyone encounters on the course. He breaks down all stages of his swings, explaining why particular adjusts are made. Tiger covers the basics (grip, stance, swings, ball placement, etc) as well as more complex setups for the more experienced player. A good amount of humor, insight into his professional life behind the scenes and his approach to the game make the book a great read in between the mechanics. I love the book and continue to use it as a reference to improve all parts of my game.

1 x 2 Commercial Grade Home Golf Practice and Driving Range Golf Mat

I was having significant trouble with my swing and decided I needed to practice at home. I bought this product, some wiffle balls, a couple good instruction books and swingyde a fairly cheap training product. Things are getting much better.

Specifically about the mat: it is durable and serves its purpose. It does move around a bit after contact, and it does sit up about an inch off the ground (you could overcome these in the right yard). But I gave it 5 stars anyway because I can practice my swing in the comfort and privacy of my back yard and then confirm progress by hitting a few balls at the range, and the price is what I was looking for.....great value.

Up-Tempo Practice DVD by Bob Hurley, Sr.

I got this DVD because I read a review that rated it very highly. I was a little disappointed, and definitely don't think it's worth the $40+.
Coach Hurley has many good ideas he tells you, and many good drills he shows you. But I had a hard time visualizing how my own team would benefit from them. I also couldn't see how Coach Hurley's teams benefited from them, because he never showed or explained how the drills fit with his system.
In our practices now I am using 1-2 of the many drills he showed, and I like them fine, but they're only a little better than drills we already use, and I wish I hadn't dropped $40+ to benefit from 1-2 drills.

INTECH Neon Plastic Putting Cup (Colors May Vary)

I can't speak for honest to goodness great golfers, but the kids at a community-wide event had a great time with these putting cups. We put together a pee-wee putt-putt in the playyard, and provided hours of entertainment. Be sure to use low-flight balls (which we did) because some of the youngsers were more interested in "driving" the ball than "putting" it.

Tac-Tic Knee

Of the 3 Tac Tic items I have purchased to date this is by far the least useful and unfortunately was the most expensive . Because of the cost of freight I purchased this with the other 2 items . Shouldnt have .!

Putting Cyclops

I purchased this product at a local Golf Town store and woww...
After only a few days of using it, it radically improved my putting game.
It helps you keep your eyes directly on the ball without allowing them to stray off to the back stroke of your putt, which normally can take your putt off aim. I've also recently seen this product featured on the Golf Channel's Golf Fix with Michael Breed, very impressive product, and I would personally recommend it to anyone looking to improve on their putting game this spring!!

Medicus Dual-Hinge Oversized Driver

This is an excellent club for grooving your swing. After just a few practice sessions, I was completely confident with the driver. The head is 460 cc's and is stainless steel. The hinge can be adjusted with an allen wrench (included) for sensitivity. The handle is a rubber wrap which a bit too firm for me but is standard in size. You can actually hit with this club but your mechanics have to be 'perfect'.

You learn the importance of tempo, swing plane and proper mechanics. The accompanying video is helpful in the appropriate use of the driver. The swing tips video is also worthwhile.

PROS
Teaches the proper swing plane for those with a smooth tempo
Adjustable resistance to hinge at a lower threshold

CONS
Heavier weight than the conventional driver which may change your perception of feel
High price

There are lower priced alternatives; however, at a fraction of the cost (Refiner Driver - has a single hinge but the action is exactly the same.
